Land’s End represents a fundamental shift in my inspiration. Rather than a reproduction of reality I am exploring painting as a means of self expression. Although the images are representational, my objective is to infuse them with a new vitality and emotional content that expresses my personal and unique vision of this environment.
This series focuses on the boundary between land and water and invites the spectator to explore familiar settings from an alternate perspective. I have experimented with formal ideas of composition by allowing rhythm, shape and colour to take on a more significant role in portraying the dynamic qualities and variable moods of this environment.
This body of work represents a bold new phase in the evolution of my work and I invite the viewer to share my vision.
