Rose-Marie Goodwin (nee Svenhard Johnsen) was born in Sweden and came to Canada’s west coast as a small child where she began sketching family members at the kitchen table. Creative and artistic to her core, Rose-Marie’s art has been influenced by Caravaggio, Degas, O’Keeffe, Hopper and Gavazzi.
An accomplished colourist, her own style developed through study at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Capilano University, North Vancouver and the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Rose-Marie has also worked and been influenced by strong, accomplished artists. “I have always been attracted to dramatic light, colour and shadow and see these elements as a metaphorical encouragement to each individual’s walk through life”.
The series of acrylic paintings, Across the Jordan, are vibrant expressions of Rose-Marie’s passion for intense colour which draw the viewer into her journey. In the past she has worked in watercolour and pastel as well as metal casting, lost wax jewellery casting and wood sculpting.
Rose-Marie’s work can be found in Canada, the United States and Sweden.
