“A heart attack is an ugly thing. It conjures images of excessive cholesterol, clogged arteries, pulsing valves and ventricles, red-faced pot-bellied candidates, and yes, death.”
That’s how Amanda Smit Regier’s article about Bellevue Gallery artist Erica Grimm-Vance entitled The Aesthetics of Attentiveness begins. In the no. 18 issue of Trinity Western magazine (click here for the online version) Grimm-Vance, an art professor at Trinity Western University talks about her 2008 heart attack and how it taught her to see deeply and connect in a more profound way with life and the world around her.
The Bellevue Gallery is pleased to represent the art of Erica Grimm-Vance. With her long-standing interest in issues of embodiment, Erica’s personal experience brings a new depth of understanding to her work.
